New publication out! Spatial accessibility and transport equity in Finland

We are happy to share that our paper was published in Computers, Environment and Urban Systems. In the paper, we investigate spatial accessibility and transport equity at national level in Finland with open source tools! The work was lead by the brilliant Matti Pönkänen and in great collaboration with Miloš N Mladenović and Henrikki! 👏 The study examines accessibility and transport inequity by analyzing seven different types of opportunities. Our findings highlight significant variations in access to opportunities across municipalities. The article also delves into the planner’s perspective on interactive online visualization tools. As part of the study, we developed an online tool to visualize our data and assessed its usefulness for planning purposes through focus group interviews. The evaluation revealed that such tools are valuable for implementation in various planning processes.💡
